May I, through your newspaper, thank your readers for the wonderful support they have given to our Tenovus shops at 181 and 283 Gloucester Road, 110 Henleaze Road and 77 Marks Road in Bristol over the past 12 months.Sadly, one in three of us will develop cancer in our lifetime. Over the last 50 years, Tenovus, the cancer charity, has funded many pioneering cancer research projects and is dependant upon income generated by our high street shops to continue funding our life-saving and life-changing cancer research and patient support programmes, plus our free phone cancer helpline 0808 808 1010.Thanks to research, many more people are now surviving cancer for longer, but much more needs to be done. I appeal to your readers to help us continue our work as we go into 2008. By simply donating good quality clothing, books, bric-a-brac and any unwanted Christmas presents to our shops we can raise funds to help cancer patients. Additionally, if you have any spare time and would like to work as a volunteer in one of our shops we would be delighted to hear from you. On behalf of us all at Tenovus: our nurses; our scientists; our social workers and especially on behalf of those who depend upon Tenovus in their personal fight against cancer, may I wish you and your readers a healthy and peaceful New Year.Peter Searle - Deputy chief executive of Tenovus, Bristol
