SO Mike Bell is opposing the most recent plans to redevelop the former Dorville Hotel (Mercury, page 6, June 15). Also, our new Mayor, Cllr Ley-Morgan appears to oppose plans to redevelop the Tropicana. Weston needs to redevelop its crumbling sites as quickly as possible. The last thing we want is 'awkward squad' councillors who imagine this town can be restored to its Edwardian glories, and that every developer is a threat.Certainly, the plans for the frontage of Lifestation Tropicana could and should be made more attractive. Yet Henry Boot's plans may be the last chance for this site. And if the developers of the former Dorville cannot get their fairly attractive plans approved they should go to appeal. Let us hope the new councillors in North Somerset learn some lessons from the recent past.ROGER BROWN - Jocelin Drive, Worle
