I DO hope the new North Somerset Council will change its mind about this new beach dog ban for Weston. Is Weston a place where we can expect our visitors will want to return to, if the last time they came they found they were not allowed to have their dog with them when they parked on the beach? The old rules we had seemed to work alright for everyone I think, including the council, so why the change?I know a lot of people say dogs are a nuisance, but take my word for it, a dog is more than a dog, it's a friend. Just ask any of our senior citizens. Perhaps if the dog wardens tackled the few people who do not clear up after their dog has made a mess, they would find they had the support of 99 per cent of the dog owners of Weston. LAURENCE F ORME - Shrubbery Avenue, WestonI HAVE just read M S Davis's letter which has made me angry, hence this reply. She says nobody should have the right to take their dogs to public places and inflict them on the rest of us. I feel the same about children. Dogs are better behaved than some children.MARGARET WOOD - Via email
