RE: TRAFFIC plans for Slade Road. In his comments to the North Somerset Times, September 10, Councillor David Pasley has clearly missed the point of the council's plans for changes to the road layout at the Nore Road/Slade Road junction.

By preventing cars from turning right into Slade Road from Nore Road the volume of traffic using the section of Slade Road southwards to its junction with Avon Way will reduce significantly. Analysis of the serious accidents that have taken place at the Avon Way junction with Slade Road (and there have been several in the past year alone) clearly shows that the overwhelming majority have involved vehicles that had been travelling south along Slade Road. It is vital that the proposals are put in to effect as quickly as possible and so contribute to safer roads in the town.
