SO what has Weston to offer? To the outsider what is there in Weston? Why would anyone come here? A lovely coast, long sandy beach and glorious sunsets, lots of opportunities to walk. What is there to do?The Victorians had the right idea. They came here to enjoy the sea-air and the mud, indeed it all began here! But now where are those facilities? Where are the luxury health facilities that would attract people of all ages?Weston has a great natural phenomenon in the rise and fall of the tide - twice everyday and all we do is knock it! Where are the glass-fronted bars and restaurants giving great opportunities to enjoy the power of the sea? Look how other places have built on their greatness: Bournemouth, Brighton, Poole, even Aberdeen! Most of them have ensured that there are opportunities for everyone, fish and chips as well as up-market bars and bistros. Cornwall is a great example of an area selling itself and has been incredibly successful. Standing on the concourse of Paddington Station and looking at the adverts you get the feeling that you want to go there and never return! Weston has a direct rail link, where are the adverts for Weston (remember the old GWR posters, but then there was something to come here for!)?Just imagine what the Henry Boot Tropicana could do for Weston. If it goes ahead we will need a new hotel and those staying will want to enjoy a modern cinema, swimming pool and shops close at hand and we will all be able to enjoy these facilities. Having just read the leaflet put through my door by F.O.O.T, I was amazed by the picture. It looks wonderful to me!MIKE TEDSTONE - Via email
