I FEEL I must write to express my view on the state of our present administration.Firstly, the public vote in their councillors and if they vote in people with no expertise, they have only themselves to blame.I was fortunate enough to have training which enabled this tattered old greying 'anorak' to earn a livelihood in aeronautical and civil engineering. My working life finished over 15 years ago when I ceased commuting to London daily. There I was employed as a clerk of works in the architectural services of the GLC and ILEA, then with the LRB on the abolition of the GLC.I could go on for ever, but I felt I had to put in perspective what an organised authority will have if it is to ensure taxpayers get value for money. The most important people are the quantity surveyors who rely on the mechanical/electrical inspectors and clerk of works. They are there to look after the clients' interests and finances, also build standards. Finally this old anorak has received a funny questionnaire about all aspects of life in North Somerset. As his only education was elementary and cannot spell raspberry, he will have to have strawberry instead, as he knows that one. They will have to go without the cream though, like many North Somerset residents have to, due to this authority.BOB 'ANORAK' DOCKRELLGrenville Avenue, Locking
