It is beyond belief that Councillor David Pasley, he who organised the 'Long March', should be criticising the proposal to improve the Cabstand Lights (Portishead Times, May 24). Agreed, the consultants who designed the crazy scheme should, morally, be paying for any improvements but he knows better than most that there is not a snowball's chance in hell of that happening. Nor will the developers, having contributed £800,000, put any more money into the project. The contract, for better or worse, has been signed sealed and delivered.A proposal has been made to investigate the possibility of making the single lane out of The High Street into two lanes with a left filter. It may not be viable. It may cost too much. But at least it is a positive suggestion as opposed to the totally negative comments we see and hear most of the time. Are there any other viable suggestions as to what should be done?John S Clark - Portishead
