I fully endorse the fact that North Somerset Council is taking health and safety too far.Surely it is far more sensible and practical to allow items which are in good condition to be sold for a nominal price rather than throw them into landfill sites. We keep being told how important recycling is for the future of our planet and are badgered to sort our all our rubbish, etc.But the council is adding to landfill problems by banning the recycling of usable goods.Of course we expect brand new items to be in perfect condition and safe to use, but secondhand goods must be inspected by the buyer to check all is well.Let commonsense prevail and allow those enterprising people staffing the civic amenity sites to carry on their good work.Diane Ball - Kings Road, Clevedon
