ALL this discussion about a new M5 junction is a waste of time as it is just not going to happen in the foreseeable future. The junction is only busy a maximum of four hours each weekday so 20 hours per week. This usage cannot justify the cost or environmental issues a new junction will cause. We need another method to solve the morning congestion and my idea is simple and inexpensive. Please follow my logic. The traffic queue leaving Weston in the mornings builds up because the traffic cannot enter the motorway roundabout. The reason is due to traffic already on the roundabout has right of way and therefore blocks access. The traffic already on the roundabout is traffic that arrived along the A370 from the direction of Congresbury and is heading for M5 north. This traffic is light volume when compared to the traffic leaving Weston but has preference on the roundabout as we give way to the right. The answer: put a morning only traffic light on the junction to control the traffic arriving from Congresbury. This will mean the low volume Congresbury traffic will build up while the light is red but the benefit will be that the high volume traffic leaving Weston will have more access time to the roundabout and the queue will reduce.MIKE FRY - Totterdown Lane, Bleadon
