WHEN, oh when, is North Somerset going to return our roads to the 19th Century - 20th and 21st would be too much to ask?Try cycling, or even motor cycling in Station Road, Worle, or even the road between Oldmixon and Hutton, it's a death trap. I'm in my mid 60s and run a 1960s vintage British motorcycle, but I have a permanent list of roads in and around North Somerset that can only be described as roads from the third world. I try to avoid them, if I am unable to, I have to weave, and turn to avoid the potholes.Memories go back to places such as Malta, and Eire from the early 90s. Since joining the EU, they have got their 'Highways' act in order. Why cannot the UK and, more locally, North Somerset Council get it together? If the council has a running programme of road resurfacing/repairs, why not publish it as a list once a month? This would go a long way to stopping the deluge of letters to the council and make it totally useless for all the 'legal' notices to be printed telling us when one metre square of footpath will be closed for resurfacing.C J LOXTON - Bristol Road, Worle
