RE THE toll road: I read that people in Kewstoke want to reinstate the toll charges to stop people from speeding through the village. This is a good idea, perhaps I could get toll roads put up at various places around Weston to stop these people from upsetting the locals, like a toll road on Queensway to stop them from speeding into Kewstoke, one at malfunction junction to stop people using the motorway or anywhere where people are unhappy about things around them.
As someone who has retired, I get great pleasure driving along the coast road into town, I don't speed but I would be charged to use it. This is a typical idea of a solution these days, you get a few people who cause trouble so instead of doing something about these you stop everyone from enjoying the road.
I presume that if they do restart the toll these people will take responsibility and pay for the insurance while people use the road and for the upkeep and repairs as it wears out.
I am sure when I last checked we are still living in a democracy and that we voted people into look after things like roads.
I can't remember anyone authorising vigilanty groups setting up and taxing the common people which is what a toll charge is if they don't pay for the upkeep out of the takings.
