COUNCILLOR Elfan Ap Rees is unfair to Echo Irving (letter January 19). He conducted the meeting under the impression that the protesters were not there to deliver full statements. Since he insisted on sticking firmly to the agenda before him, Echo Irving cannot be blamed for leaving the chamber.Neither can Cllr Ap Rees be blamed for sticking to the agenda. What he can be criticised for is staying with it long after it had become clear that there was something amiss. If Councillor John Crockford-Hawley, presumably anticipating trouble, had not produced irrefutable proof that the agenda had been changed forcing Cllr Ap Rees to recognise that the meeting, and Cllr Ap Rees himself, had been misled, things could have been much worse.ROBERT CRAIG - Priory Road, Weston
