PASSING comment on Mrs V Bendell's remarks on Lowestoft, Suffolk, I simply have to take issue on a few factual inaccuracies. To my knowledge Lowestoft has never had a seafront swimming pool, unless she is confusing the issue with Oulton Broad. As for a proper pier, she has omitted to inform you of the vast sums spent renovating the South Pier and seafront together with several parks, not least Kensington Gardens. The seafront and promenade are among the best in the country with its blue flag beach status, one of only two in the country. I for one am very proud of my home town. As for crime and drug related problems, you are referred to insurance ratings which see Lowestoft rated at a very low level.
