I SEE from the issue of June 21, that more houses are forecast to be built on the paper bag factory site. With the town being short of entertainment, surely it could accommodate a two-screen cinema, dance, live music halls, theatre and library in the same block. A library site would be more suitable in an entertainment complex than in a block of flats. Also this would cater for newer residents coming into the town, that is also short of a number of venues. The views from the managing director of the company seems to be all for a new suggestion of parting with the land that the factory occupies. Also there would be plenty of entertainment to keep the younger people from the streets that the youth centre could not accommodate. Recently, we have been reading that the youth centre more or less caters for very young children rather than adult teenagers. Although we have had word that improvements are at last being put underway to this centre. WINSTON DAVIES - Down Road, Portishead
