On behalf of Weston-super-Mare Town Council, I wish to congratulate everyone involved in the Flower Power initiative on the awards received this year.I wish to thank not only the volunteers, but also local businesses who helped to make this success possible. The town council is a small authority with a limited budget, but set aside £20,000 for the initiative, all of which was spent on visible improvements to the appearance of the town, and not on staff costs. However it would not have been possible for so much to have been achieved if additional support had not been received from local businesses including the Weston & Somerset Mercury, Quadron, Towens, Sanders GardenWorld, the Michael family, Sainsbury's, Homebase, TK Maxx, McDonald's and Farrons Estate Agents. We hope to expand the Flower Power initiative and have plenty of exciting ideas for the future. If you wish to volunteer to help or are a local business who is able to provide sponsorship we would be pleased to hear from you.Cllr Robert PayneLeader of the Town Council
