FURTHER to your front page article re the disciplinary hearing concerning North Somerset's director of Children's and Young People's Services, the disciplinary committee was not unanimous in its findings. Indeed we felt Mr Diamond was guilty on only one of the charges: that he failed to act on the advice of the chief executive officer. We were not convinced of any wrong- doing on the other charges. However, we were outvoted by three votes to two and the committee agreed by the same margin to issue a written warning, the wording of which had to be agreed by all, this being a democracy where the majority decision is acted upon. Perhaps in hindsight we should have issued a minority report.MICHAEL NOBES Labour/Cooperative Clevedon CentralMICHAEL JOHNSTONLiberal Democrat Redcliffe Bay, Portishead
