I RECENTLY had occasion to visit a friend who lives off Devonshire Road. We needed to go to a church in Addicot Road and to make things easier, we each used class two electric mobility scooters.By law they are only permitted on pavements. We were able to find ramps allowing us to cross Devonshire Road but whilst there were sometimes ramps on one side of side turnings there were not always ramps on the opposite side. It was only with some difficulty that we reached Addicot Road.Upon our arrival I found that we had to go the full length of that road before a ramp could be found, thus necessitating our travelling back on the opposite side to near Drove Road. On our return we went via the top of Addicot Road, turning left opposite Bournville Road. This probably gave us a shorter journey but there were even less ramps that way with the result that it was easier to break the law and drive on the road. I had not realised that Weston was so unfriendly towards handicapped people. H SYDNEY COX - General Higgins House, Highbridge
