KERRY Michael is offering a purpose-built office project to rehouse our councillors right next to the railway station, what a superb idea.

The current staff who we see already walking from the station may well be joined by others. Which brings me to the real point of this letter.

Just how do council leaders envisage their staff getting to new offices in Clevedon, a town where there has been no railway link since the Beeching massacre, the nearest station is Yatton or Nailsea. Buses to Clevedon are certainly not sufficient to afford a workable link between the afformentioned stations or probably the biggest supplier of staff, Weston. So all the personnel who currently bus from the outskirts of Weston, or catch the train from various towns will now have to take to their cars!

We have been complaining about Junction 21 for years, now our narrow minded councillors have decided it would be a good idea to actually add their staff to the maelstrom each morning and make things worse.

And while we are messing up the roads again let's chuck 180,000 at a bus lane in Congresbury because of a totally messed up set of traffic lights causing chaos every rush hour.

They did work OK back in about 2004/5 when they seemed to be set up by an engineer who knew his stuff. This is another place with a simple solution, get rid of the lights, when the lights fail the traffic actually flows much better, put in some mini roundabouts, and while the workforce are there get them to paint lines for three lanes, that will give councillors their bus lane!
