I WAS very pleased the planning committee made the correct decision over the Neva Road Tennis Club and overruled the wishes of the planning department. What I cannot understand is why they were so against the club. Had someone upset the planning department? How was the planning department able to ignore 55 households and their wishes in order to support one household who complained about the light from the club's floodlight because they were not prepared to close their curtains at night when they were switched on?Why try to cut down the use of the club's lights to one hour a week and even go to court where to everybody's amazement they won the day. It makes you wonder where the magistrate lived who upheld the council. Let's hope the club will be left in peace and allowed to get on with what they do, teach young people to play tennis.
