IN RESPONSE to the article by the local authority recently published regarding the cost of nursing the elderly when they are sick, there is something I do not understand. They insist that 550 per week is more than enough to nurse an elderly person whilst agreeing 3,000 to place a child in care and between 1,000 and 5,000 to care for someone with learning difficulties.

Without question all these people need care - but who decided that care for the elderly was worth so much less?
