I REFER to the short article 'End of run' quoting councillor Graham Watkins.Hurrah, maybe something will be done about the Station Road pickle. Myself and my husband have been on about the dangers in Station Road for some time.A year and a half ago we started raising the issue with the police and North Somerset Council about the dangers after I was knocked by a car driven the wrong way up Station Road, when confronted the lady in question said it was her right to do so to get to a shop. After a lot of correspondence with the police and the North Somerset Council it was agreed that the signs were not plain enough and the legal wording relative to that road was incorrect therefore preventing the police from doing anything. Over many months the signs were changed and the legal part would follow we were assured. Since then we have observed traffic turning in there willy nilly for anything but deliveries. People drive in there and park as though it's their right. I spoke to a Police Community Support Officer in the area and was told they had no powers to do anything about it. We have tried to influence the outcome to this problem and would appreciate some more influence from someone with more clout to ensure a solution is quickly brought about before someone is killed or seriously injured.
