Please Cllr, keep it real! Let's face it, senior Tory councillors and council staff hold each other in mutual low esteem. If we need to cut costs why not figure out what the attritional state of affairs existing between council staff and elected Tory members costs the Weston/North Somerset ratepayer each year, if we're saying improved working conditions mean happier, more efficient staff and thus a better deal for residents.

As for you not receiving any objection (to 'the move') perhaps your constituents thought that whatever they said wouldn't make any difference, given the council's record on 'consultation'. Yes please, consult! Go to Weston High Street - if you're feeling courageous - and ask people what they think. Whilst you're there ask them what they feel about their town being in the insipid administrative construct of 'North Somerset',

Take Weston out of the equation and North Somerset becomes the backward parish council where the current executive could deal with issues more suited to their level of ability, dog bins, fetes, that kind of thing.
