A 45-YEAR-OLD from Weston has been arrested after a hoax bomb call was made to London's Millennium Dome.Bosses at the iconic structure, now known as the O2 Arena, received a call saying a bomb had been planted at the city centre site. They contacted the police immediately and officers traced the call to a mobile phone in the possession of Amanda Hinwood, who was at a house on the Bournville estate.Weston's South Ward police officers entered the home and asked Hinwood if she had made the call, which she denied.Police asked O2 Arena operators to call the hoax number and, when the mobile phone rang, Hinwood was arrested and charged with making a malicious call.Officers say the incident was particularly serious due to the sensitive situation with national security. The call was made at about 6.20pm on July 4.On the same day, at 4.45pm, police received a call saying a bomb had been planted at the Government Communications Headquarters near Cheltenham. The call was again traced and a 16-year-old girl was arrested in the Weston area and taken into custody. She was later given police bail pending further enquiries.North Somerset's police superintendent Julian Moss said: "Taking that call could be blocking another genuine emergency and could potentially cost someone's life."Any report that is made in good faith will be treated as such. What we will not tolerate is pranksters wasting our time and potentially costing lives.
