A FRIENDSHIP club which has been running for 38 years held a party to celebrate its membership growing to more than 100.

Mead Vale Friendship Club now has 105 members and its chairman, Jean Hughes, organised a party to celebrate.

She said: “We had an entertainer who came and played music and we had a nice lot of good food.

“What we are trying to do as a club is to create friendship, so I made all of the members go and sit next to people they haven’t spoken with before.”

The club goes on holidays together, holds fish and chip socials, bingo sessions and has regular entertainers.

Jean said: “It is nice for people already living here and people moving here to know that people in the area are friendly and they will have someone to talk to and socialise with.”
