The family of a two-year-old boy from Weston-super-Mare, who needs an operation to enable him to walk, say they are extremely grateful after receiving a £1,000 donation from a housing developer to boost their cause.

Jacob Baird has cerebral palsy and will be unable to walk properly unless he undergoes a procedure called a selective dorzal rhizotomy (SDR).

The operation is not available on the NHS and Jacob’s family are raising £75,000 to pay for the surgery and rehabilitation.

The Bairds received a £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes earlier this month.

Jacob’s mum Nicola said: “The donation from Persimmon Homes helps us reach our target and we’re grateful for their contribution.”
