The 1st Milton Scouts has been collecting for the RNLI every year by building a float at Christmas for shoppers to donate to.

The scouts raised £2,362 this time around, and joined the beavers and cubs at the RNLI’s training session to hand over the cheque to fundraising chairman Peter Elmont.

Group scout leader Gemma Kattana said: “We are very grateful for the generosity of the people of Weston who have supported us so well.

“We have always respected the local RNLI and the work they do as volunteers.

“Our scouts enjoyed the experience and take pleasure in helping the lifeboat crew.”

RNLI fundraising chairman Peter Elmont added: “All donations to our charity are valuable and gratefully received.

“This one is particularly so because it was collected by the boys and girls of the scouts.”
