Scouts give Worle church a fresh lick of paint

Community-minded scouts gave up some of their weekend to paint a Worle church.

The 1st Wick St Lawrence scouts spent four hours painting St Mark’s Church along with their leaders Andrew Barnes and Doug Fryer on Saturday.

Andrew said: “The minister himself has a son in the scouts, and asked if we would like to help paint the church.

“We already decided to help, but he said if we could do it we could use the church for a fundraising car wash the following weekend.

“We painted the main wall and round the front and got quite a bit done.

“The scouts got a lot out of it by helping the community.

“People are very pleased, they made the church look much better.”

The scouts will be busy this weekend washing cars at the church from 10am-4pm on Saturday.

They will be able to put their volunteer work towards a community work badge and fundraising badge.
