SCORES of residents packed to a planning meeting in Nailsea to object to a three-bedroom house being built in Pound Lane.

An application has been submitted to North Somerset Council for a house to be built on land at Waylands but a number of people living nearby have raised objections over the proposal.

It is proposed that the property will be taller than neighbouring houses so solar energy equipment can be stored in the roof.

Margaret Matthews, of Fosse Way, said: "Our main concern is the height of the house and how it will affect our privacy.

"It would appear to us that this house's roof is going to be looking over our roofs and I feel it's going to be too imposing. It's also on a blind corner of the road."

Other residents raised objections that the building would block light from their gardens and properties, that residents would be able to see into their bedroom windows and that access to the property would be dangerous as the land is near three junctions.

Nailsea Town Council's Planning and Environment Committee agreed to recommend refusal of the application at its meeting on January 23, on the grounds that the proposal is against the local plan, the sewers are not adequate enough to cope with more development and access to the property is near to three junctions.
