MORE shoppers should soon be able to access their cash for free.

A year ago the Bristol Financial Inclusion Taskforce (B-Fit) joined forced with Nationwide and pledged to install ATMs that would not charge people to withdraw their money.

Now the groups' first free to use cash machine has been installed in the North Somerset Housing office off Lonsdale Avenue on Weston's Bournville Estate.

B-Fit, which is a collaboration of public sector bodies, voluntary and community groups and other interested parties, is now hoping other business owners will come forward to suggest further suitable sites for the ATMs.

Bournville resident Alan Head, who lives just around the corner from the new machine, said: "I thought it was a brilliant idea because the only other cash point is in a shop and you have to pay nearly £2 to use it.

"I use this one all the time now and I know a lot of people who are really pleased with it."

Nationwide will carry out any work needed to install the machines and the host is not charged for the facility. Anyone interested in finding out more can call Jenny Shallens on 01179 543990.
