BOOKWORMS in Banwell are concerned they may lose their library as a result of North Somerset Council cuts.
The unitary authority is currently reviewing rural library services as a way of plugging a £17million funding gap over the next two years.
At a budget briefing last month leader Cllr Nigel Ashton said: "They all cost money to run. This is not a scare story. We should review the libraries."
At a parish council meeting earlier this week, the village's ward representative, Cllr Tim Marter, read out an email he had received from a library assistant.
It read: "I am being inundated with queries from the public because of the threatened closure of the library."
Cllr Marter added: "I believe our library provides an invaluable facility and has almost become a Citizen's Advice Bureau. I will fight tooth and nail to save it."
Councillors are expected to outline in more detail how savings will be made at a meeting of its executive on December 11.
