PATIENTS suffering from osteoporosis across North Somerset could soon have access to a greater range of treatments after the Government changed its guidelines.
PATIENTS suffering from osteoporosis across North Somerset could soon have access to a greater range of treatments after the Government changed its guidelines.
The move has been welcomed by the National Osteoporosis Society (NOS), a charity which campaigns for better care for people with the disease.
Previously, draft guidance from the National Institute for Clinical Excellence recommended only one course of treatment for sufferers, but the charity said up to a quarter of people could not tolerate the course of drugs recommended.
The NOS appealed against the decision and the Government body has now agreed to look at recommendations for alternative treatments.
