CHURCHES across Clevedon are appealing for people to come home for Christmas.
CHURCHES across Clevedon are appealing for people to come home for Christmas.
Christians across the town have joined the national campaign, lead by the Catholic Church, to encourage people through the doors of churches over the festive period.
Paul Stathers, who attends the Church of the Immaculate Conception, in Marine Hill, Clevedon, said: "We're trying to get people to come back to church. Not many people go these days and many people don't even know the words to Christmas carols anymore, which is really sad. We're encouraging people to come back to church over the Christmas period."
Every resident has been sent an invitation to the many services across the town.
The Church of the Immaculate Conception is holding a special service at 10am on January 6 to celebrate the end of Christmas and welcome former worshippers back. The service will be followed by a big party in the parish hall.
