A PERMANENT reminder of a historic event will be put up next week.
Weston's mayor, Councillor John Ley-Morgan, will unveil a commemorative plaque at Anchor Head on Wednesday at 3.30pm.
The lasting reminder will be displayed in honour of the 80th anniversary of the first swim of the Bristol Channel from Penarth to Weston.
The historic feat was carried out by 21-year-old Kathleen Thomas from Penarth on September 5, 1927, in a time of seven hours and 20 minutes.
A number of other dignitaries and famous faces will also attend the unveiling next week including the mayor of Penarth, Cllr Roberts.
