A BACKWELL woman is happily nursing her sore feet after raising £350 for charity as a result of running the Bristol Half Marathon.Katie Watkin, aged 23, completed the 13 mile road race in two and a half hours to raise the money for Horseworld in Whitchurch.Katie said: "Completing the half marathon in two and a half hours was a tremendous goal for me."The whole experience was amazing and the crowds were fantastic and the other runners all supported each other.Katie trained for the race by running for up to eight miles, three to four times a week.Horseworld is responsible for the care of more than 400 equines and operates a welfare department where staff work to rehabilitate sick, neglected and traumatised horses and run a visitor centre.People are able to meet the recovered horses at the visitor centre and learn about animal welfare.All money raised from the centre helps pay for the charity's work.
