MEMBERS of Avon and Somerset Search and Rescue Team have been rewarded for their valuable work.

A presentation, held this afternoon (Mon), saw Avon and Somerset Police Chief Constable Colin Port present members of the voluntary organisation with three vehicles to aid their work.
Chairman and chief rescue officer Duncan Massey, and deputy chief rescue officer Alan George were also presented with Lifetime Achievement Awards.
In the past six months, the team have assisted Avon and Somerset Police on 17 occasions, including searching for missing people, rescuing trapped climbers and recovering bodies from remote locations.
In the same period the team has also responded to more than 100 incidents on behalf of the ambulance service.
