POLICE in Blagdon were called to the site of roadworks after one of the work men was spotted taking drugs.
PC Ray Bradley received a phone call from a resident living near the roadworks on Rhodyate to say she could see one of the men holding a lighter under some tin foil.
When PC Bradley attended the scene it became clear that the man was inhaling fumes from the heroin he had been heating up.
He was found possessing one gram of heroin and more than 30 anti-depression tablets, which are prescribed to some drug addicts.
Kevin Merrington, from Radstock, was cautioned for the possession of a class A drug.
The 32-year-old was working as a labourer on the site and PC Bradley said he was satisfied he did not pose a safety risk.
