A ROYAL charity has become the latest organisation to contribute to the future of Weston's young people. The Prince's Trust is giving £10,000 to Barcode youth cafe, an under-18s venue in South Parade. The trust, a charity which provides training, mentoring and financial assistance to 14-30 year olds, was founded in 1976 by the Prince of Wales.Weston Town Council clerk Linda Larter says the money will go towards initiatives aimed at increasing the number of people who use the facility, in particular the number of Weston College students who visit the youth cafe.Weston Town Council is also waiting to hear about a decision from National Lottery chiefs on a bid for £324,000. The result is expected to be known on May 11.* Fund-raising for the successful youth cafe continued last week with a charity curry night at the Surma restaurant in Orchard Street on Tuesday.Twenty per cent of the evening's takings were donated to Barcode.
