A WESTON pensioner says after 12 years of campaigning he is being allowed to fly a flag high above Weston to mark St George's Day.Former Broadoak teacher John Carter says he fought long and hard to get the big red cross put up on top of Weston Town Hall on April 23.But Mr Carter, who says he has raised money for another flag pole and flag, says after writing numerous letters and even challenging council chairman Roz Willis to a fencing match he was told his long campaign had been successful.The 68-year-old, who used to be a member of Cardiff University's fencing team, says he has been contacted by Mrs Willis, who says he can go ahead and have the flag put up for a day to commemorate the life of the patron saint of England.
