THE landlord of a Nailsea pub has dispelled rumours he is going to start lap dancing nights at his bar, saying it was a rumour he started for fun.The gossip started after an advert appeared in a local newsagents looking to employ lapdancers in Nailsea - with the number of Braggs restaurant and wine bar alongside it.The pub became the talk of the town among residents who said they were unsure whether lap dancing was suitable for an area like Nailsea. But landlord of Braggs, Richard Beaton, who took over the bar two years ago, said it was him that started the rumour for a bit of fun.Mr Beaton, who runs the bar with his partner Lucy King, said: "Since we took over the pub there has been people gossiping about me and Lucy."So we came up with the idea that we would give those people something to really talk about."That's when we came up with the idea of placing an advert for lap dancers in a local newsagent. It was more of a prank than anything else."Mr Beaton, aged 56, said surprisingly he had received a number of calls from girls interested in becoming lap dancers at the bar.He added: "I can assure residents that we are not going to start lap dancing at Braggs."Mind you, with the number of calls I received regarding the advert, it does make you wonder whether there is a need for something like this in the town - it may liven up Nailsea a little bit."The pub used to be known as The Queens Head, and was re-opened as Braggs in September following a major re-fit.It now operates as a wine bar and restaurant and offers seafood dishes as one of its specialities.
