TEN cub scouts from Nailsea have become the first in the district to successfully complete the 'Gordano Challenge'.The contest is open to cubs over the age of nine and is specially created to include activities based around adventure, traditional scouting skills and service to the community. The cubs from the Concorde and Compass Packs have been working towards the badge since April and some of their activities have included sailing, a conservation project, tent pitching and cooking and serving a three course meal. The cubs were presented with their certificate and special badges by district commissioner Phil Woolcock and assistant district commissioner Eileen Somerton.Cub scout leader Ellen Bolton said: "This is a great achievement for the cubs who have put in a lot of hard work and commitment over a sustained period to complete all the different elements of the challenge."They've also had a lot of fun along the way and I hope the new skills they've learnt will put them in good stead when they move up into the scout section and beyond."* Cubs are pictured from 1st Nailsea Concorde and Compass Packs proudly display their Gordano Challenge certificates.
