WESTON MP John Penrose is helping tackle the problems of child maintenance and the Child Support Agency (CSA.Mr Penrose is a member of the parliamentary work and pensions committee, which is carrying out an investigation into reforming the child support system. Hearings were due to take place in the House of Commons this week.Mr Penrose said: "The current system, driven by the CSA, simply isn't working. Virtually every week I am being asked to help sort out a parent's problems with child maintenance."The CSA currently has £3.5 billion of arrears to chase, and 250,000 uncleared cases, with an average waiting time of approaching 500 days. "This investigation will allow us to recommend some serious changes.
