CONTROVERSIAL plans to introduce later opening hours at a Burnham nightclub have been refused - but lap dancing will be allowed
CONTROVERSIAL plans to introduce later opening hours at a Burnham nightclub have been refused - but lap dancing will be allowed. Sedgemoor District Council's licensing panel last year refused an application to extend the hours at Shakers and allow 'gentlemen's evenings'. As a result, the applicants lodged an appeal with Bridgwater magistrates. After receiving evidence from licensing officers, Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, police and residents, the magistrates upheld the original decision of the licensing panel, but lap dancing has been permitted, subject to certain conditions. The closing times of the club in High Street will remain at 12midnight from Sunday to Thursday and 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.
