WESTON Town Council's deputy leader has announced he is fed up with people being used as 'political footballs' and plans to stand as an independent candidate at the next elections.Councillor David Evans, who currently represents Summer Lane ward as a Liberal Democrat, says he will stand for Weston Town Council and North Somerset Council at the May elections under the banner 'putting Weston first'.Cllr Evans said: "I am fed up with seeing the people of our lovely town used as political footballs with a capital P."I have at least six or seven other people indicating they wish to stand with me and we will have no ties to any other body."Every week we hear this party or that party blaming each other for things. What happened to new jobs, more businesses and cutting crime and disorder?
