NORTH Somerset Council meetings could soon be broadcast over the internet so residents can take part in debates in the comfort of their own homes. North Somerset Councillor for Weston West, Mike Bell, put forward the idea at a council meeting on Tuesday.
NORTH Somerset Council meetings could soon be broadcast over the internet so residents can take part in debates in the comfort of their own homes.North Somerset Councillor for Weston West, Mike Bell, put forward the idea at a council meeting on Tuesday.He said: "The council spends £200 million a year of taxpayers money on education, social services, rubbish collection, highways and all kinds of other things. Residents have every right to know how that money is spent and how decisions are made."Its high time we modernised and opened up our procedures to public scrutiny so residents have a fair chance to hold us to account."People surfing the net would be able to listen to debates and hear the decisions being made or even access the details at a later date.
