CLEVEDON Town Council has stumped up £10,000 towards the costs of insuring the town's Victorian pier.Councillors agreed to earmark the money towards the total £30,000 cost of insuring the structure at a meeting on Wednesday night.Members also said they would be pressing North Somerset Council to look at ways of earmarking the funding for insuring the pier on an annual basis.Clevedon councillor Carl Francis-Pester said: "The town council agreed to partly fund the cost of the insurance."However this is not something we will do for perpetuity and the pier trust will have to apply each year.
