A turbulent week of weather is expected to continue in Weston-super-Mare today (Thursday) after the Met Office issued a warning.
A yellow warning for wind is in place until 2pm, with a ‘spell of wet and windy weather expected’.
A Met Office spokesman said: “Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely with some journeys taking longer. There is the chance of some cancellations as well as some road and bridge closures.
“Some short term loss of power and other services is possible.
“It’s likely some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by spray or large waves, with a small chance of injuries from large waves and beach material being thrown onto seafronts, coastal roads and properties.
“Heavy rain is also likely to affect southern and western England, and following on from recent wet weather this may lead to some very localised surface water flooding.”
