Boudica, Neil Armstrong, and Sweeney Todd were just some of the people who inspired scarecrows in Uphill over the weekend.
Scarecrows were also waiting for the chop under the guillotine, while Joan of Arc was being burned at the stake in Moseley Grove in this year’s macabre theme of Horrible Histories.
More than 70 figures were on display, with scenes ranging from the French revolution to the 70th anniversary of the NHS.
The event is organised by Uphill Village Society.
Chairman Stewart Castle said: “The weather may have been against us for the first time in 11 years but it did not dampen the spirit of those who designed built and displayed their scarecrow or those who braved the weather to tour the village viewing them.
“By the Sunday afternoon the sun was shinning, cream teas were being served in the church and families were out on mass enjoying themselves.”
