There has been a serious accident involving a pedestrian and a lorry on the A370 near Weston-super-Mare this evening (Monday), which is causing huge traffic queues.
The road is closed from the motorway roundabout at junction 21, meaning cars cannot enter the B3440 for Weston and Old Weston Road for Congresbury.
The accident took place near Moorlands Park and police are setting up diversions to try to manage the heavy flow of rush hour traffic.
A man has been airlifted to Southmead Hospital after the air ambulance was called just before 4.15pm.
There is not yet any information about his condition.
