A road in Winscombe was blocked for almost 12 hours after a vehicle collided with an electricity pole.
Winscombe Hill, which has been described as a ‘rat run’ for commuters using it as a shortcut between the A38 and the A371, was cordoned off after a car got caught in overhanging wires and hit the pole, ending up on its side, on Monday morning at 9am
Police attended, along with Western Power and the driver emerged unscathed.
It is believed the electricity wires were suspended low in the air, a problem which has now been resolved.
The road was later reopened at 8.15pm.
