BUS users are breathing a sigh of relief after Crosville Motor Services announced they will be taking over two axed bus routes used by early morning commuters.

First Bus will remove the number 1 service, which runs between the railway station at Station Approach and Sand Bay and the number 14 which runs between Regent Street and Sainsburys, Worle, from July 28.

Hayley Powell, aged 29, of Kewstoke Road, who regularly catches the number 1 service, said: “I catch the early bus into town every day to get into work by 8.30am.

“I can’t believe they’re cancelling this service but I’m glad Crosville will be taking it over.

“Otherwise I might have been worried about my job and how to get into work.”

A First Bus spokesman said: “Unfortunately in the current economic climate our services 1 and 14 are no longer commercially viable and as a result have to be withdrawn.

“We understand this change may create inconvenience to our customers and sincerely apologise for this, but we are pleased that there are other services in the area that most of our customers should be able to use as an alternative if they wish to.”
